Keeping Up With a Travel Blog (After I’ve Stopped Traveling)

keeping up with a travel blog

If you haven’t noticed from the lack of blogging for the past ten months, I’ve been struggling to write. When I moved to Australia, I was constantly traveling and exploring new places. It was so easy to write blogs because I always had something to write about. When I decided to go back to school and stay in Australia for an extra two years, I didn’t realize that it would take such a toll on my blog. It’s hard to come up with something fun to write about when your week consists of going to class and babysitting; and by the time the weekend comes around, the last thing I want to do is sit in front of my laptop.

Now, I’m not saying that staying here was a mistake.  Deciding to stay in Australia for an extra two years was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve just settled down and gotten back into a routine, which makes it extremely hard to come up with creative content. (It’s pretty hard to keep up with a travel blog when you’re not traveling).

When Covid19 hit, I thought I’d have so much more time to write, but to be honest, it’s been the complete opposite. My classes have all moved online, which means all communication with my teachers is over an online learning system. This makes learning and completing assignments 10x harder, and working from home is easier said than done. Getting assignments done now takes me twice as long. Not to mention the two kids I babysit are out of school and both home all day. This keeps me EXTREMELY busy (and puts me in bed by 8pm).

To be honest, I actually didn’t even realize how long I’ve gone without writing! It’s amazing what getting in a routine can do. Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, and the next thing I know, I haven’t written for almost a year! I’m going to try my best to keep up with blogging again, and find little fun things to write about.

Mason and I are planning a road trip up to Exmouth (about 13 hours north of Perth) in July with another couple, so I’ll be sure to have some exciting stories after that! Watch out for more to come!
